                     WINNING ISN'T EVERYTHING

When I first started showing, which wasn't too long ago, I was overwhelmed by how nice Holland Lop breeders are!  They are friendly, helpful and just as laid back as the breed they show.  It's always fun to go to shows, buy raffle tickets and win those unique prices...Oh, and the non-stop bunny talk, just wonderful!  I usually have a hard time sleeping the night before a show--I would worry about the rabbits I am leaving behind and the things I would forget to bring.  But I mostly account that to the brimming excitement that's bubbling inside of me--would the judges like my rabbits?  I learn more each time I go to a show...the valuable tips you get from the judges and the vital lessons every competitor brings to the table.  So, it's not all about winning.  The excitement, the anticipation, the learning, and the camaraderie more than makes up for those sleepless nights and long drives.  Winning those "legs" are but a bonus.  They fuel your desire to constantly strive to produce in your barn the rabbits that would be closest to the standard.
